Use colour filters to make your text stand out from the background
If you happen to use an image as your background it can be difficult for a person to read the text in the poster. To avoid this, use a contrasting colour for the text. Another thing you can do is, instead of going with contrasting colours and making a rainbow in your poster you can adjust the opacity of your background image just enough so that your image is also visible as well as your text.
